We are pleased to provide you with information about Shrewsbury Montessori School and the Montessori Children's House of Auburn, a private, not-for-profit school for children ages three through grade six. Our conscientious faculty, low student to teacher ratio, individualized attention and our commitment to excellence in Montessori education provide an exceptional learning environment for our students.
Shrewsbury Montessori School was founded upon the principles of teaching and learning developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Maria Montessori dedicated her life to working with children and observing how they develop and learn. As a result of her research, Dr. Montessori concluded that children possess an intrinsic desire to gain knowledge about themselves and their world through exploration and discovery. She found that the best learning environment provides the child with sufficient freedom to explore areas of interest under the guidance of trained teachers.
