Students from kindergarten through grade six have gardening once a week. The goals of the program are to learn practical life skills, and to enhance the science curriculum components of observation, botany, and ecology at all levels.

Outdoor activities are the backbone of the program. Planting vegetables and herbs in the fall and spring, watering and weeding, planting and caring for perennials around the campus, and building garden components are the focus. Additional seasonal activities might include collecting seeds for propagation, raking leaves, filling bird feeders, and birdwatching.

During harsh weather, typical indoor activities might include planning for our spring garden, sprouting seeds in our indoor GrowLab, caring for indoor plants, researching native plants and animals and their role the local ecosystem, as well as various craft and cooking projects.
